Living under the same roof

You can be considered to be separated from your spouse even if you live under the same roof.

Someone outside the relationship may be required to give evidence to confirm what you say about the separation circumstances. Factors to prove that you are separated might include things like the absence of sexual intercourse, you and your spouse each doing your own chores (eg. cooking and cleaning), and/or financial independence.
