Family Court
The Family Court of Australia (FCA) is a specialised court dealing purely with family law matters.
The FCA has jurisdiction in a broad range of matters, including matrimonial causes, guardianship and all matters relating to the welfare of children.The FCA was created to improve the manner in which separation and divorce were managed, and aims to provide specialised services concerning the welfare of the children of separating couples. With the creation of the Federal Magistrates Court, the FCA can increasingly focus on determining the most complex family law disputes.
